I have gained a new respect for my laptop. I used to live in fear of it crashing... but my new best friend is the 'reset point'... if something goes wrong I tell it to go back to the last save point and reset... it's like a magical UNDO button... and I'm up and running - feeling bulletproof once more.

I feel EPT!

Rather than live in fear of a crash and ultimate loss of data you might want to try something that I just bought. It's called ClickFree backup. Plug it into a USB port and it automaitcally backs up everything.

Isn't that a great feature. Do you use XP or do you have Vista? My son Tom is stuck with an error message that he can't fix by going back to another last known working date. It costs $250 for Geek Squad and I don't know what to tell him to fix it other than what the 'support' page says.

I'm using XP - luckily I've not had any mysterious 'non-fixable' error messages... I've been lucky!

I'm usually pretty amazed at how EPT Dell customer service can be - they walked me through installing a new CD drive on this computer one day... is it a Dell, and is it still under some sort of a warranty?

Click Free backup, eh? I'll look into it. I was listening to Rush Limbaugh today and heard about some backup system he was promoting, sounded similar to this - for $50/yr.
